There is an SEO video on the market, however, it is geared toward the iWeb user. You can still use all the theories and just apply them to your site though. It's a step-by-step guide like you want, and it has some pretty good tips for e-commerce sites. But if you're serious about SEO and are willing to make this investment, please do the work that comes with it. I see too many people waste their money on things only to end up being too lazy to do the work.

If your site does not contain keyword optimized "content," just images and sales content and links, you'll never rank highly in search engines.

Best strategy:

Build theme-based content site(s) that provide well written, keyword-focused content pages that serve the needs of your "target" market.

These sites warm up your potential customers by giving them even more than they expected when they typed in their search term. They like and trust you because you didn't "pitch" them when they arrived at your site but gave them valuable information related to their search. Best of all, the search engines will love you!

Once you've built a rapport with your visitors by "giving" first, you can then link them to your e-store and enjoy higher conversion rates.

Hope this helps...
References :
The first thing to pay attention to is the Google SEO Starter Guide:
http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.google.com/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

Set up a Google Webmaster Tools account. Here's a guide:
http://knol.google.com/k/search-engine-optimization-seo-101-students-guide-basics

Also use the Google Webmaster Central Help:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/

And you can ask question in Webmaster Help Forum that will be answered by experts:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters

Good luck!
References :
www.google.com

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I feel your pain. You can learn all the SEO in the world but if you don't have a solid step by step game plan, chances are you won't get any results.

When it comes down to it, SEO is all about

1. Finding the right keywords to rank for

2. Optimizing your website to rank in Google for those keywords

3. Then building backlinks with those keywords

Of course there is a system to each of those steps but it would take all day for me to explain. You can visit my SEO blog if you get more info. It's in the resources section right below.
References :
http://seovengeance.com
